Where should you look first?

To find reliable dropshipping suppliers, search for your exact product on AliExpress, Alibaba or 1688; use Google, supplier apps, directories and industry contacts to find more candidates. For help buying and shipping from China, contact a sourcing and fulfillment partner. Ask each candidate about your product, order size and destination, then buy a sample and test an order before committing more money.

Suppose you want to sell a pet grooming brush. Searching “dropshipping supplier” gives you platforms and broad catalogs. Searching the brush’s material and function gets you closer to someone who can supply it. The next question is whether that business will send one parcel to your customer or expects you to buy a carton. Find that out early.

PICKOSHIP publishes this guide and offers sourcing and fulfillment services. The search examples below are suggested queries, not endorsements of the businesses that appear in the results.

Where to find dropshipping suppliers for your product

What you have Where to look first What you want to obtain
A product idea and a small test budget AliExpress or a supplier app A sample and a quote for individual customer orders
A proven product or a customization brief Alibaba, manufacturer websites or a sourcing partner Production options, minimums and repeat-supply terms
A product image or Chinese supplier link 1688 or a China sourcing partner Matching product candidates and a complete sourcing-to-shipping quote
A need for stock in a particular country Product-specific Google searches and supplier directories Confirmation that your exact variant is held in that country
Several suppliers but no coordinated dispatch A sourcing and fulfillment partner A plan for receiving, checking, packing and shipping orders

Before contacting anyone, prepare five details: product link or photos, required variants, target countries, expected order volume, and packaging needs. If you have no sales yet, say so. A supplier needs to know whether you are buying one sample or planning regular orders.

1. AliExpress: start with the exact product and variant

AliExpress is a place to start when you want to buy a sample before discussing a larger order. Search the product first, then investigate the seller behind the listing.

  1. Open AliExpress and search for a specific product, such as self cleaning pet grooming brush. Add the material, size or function if the results are too broad.
  2. Open several relevant listings. Compare the exact variant, included accessories, recent customer photos and destination-specific shipping information. Do not compare the price of a replacement part with the price of the complete product.
  3. Visit each seller’s store. Look for a coherent product range and recent feedback relevant to the item you want.
  4. Contact two or three candidates before ordering. Ask whether they support ongoing dropshipping and whether your chosen version is available.

“I want to test your [product/variant] for customers in [country]. Can you fulfill individual orders without promotional inserts? Please quote one unit delivered to [postcode], confirm processing time, and explain how stock and tracking are handled.”

Before paying, select the exact version you intend to sell. For our brush example, check the size, handle material and whether it has the cleaning button shown in the main photo. Ask the seller to confirm those details in the order.

2. Alibaba: ask about supply and individual dispatch separately

Try Alibaba when you know the product specification or want to discuss your own logo and packaging. Make your first inquiry clear about quantities: a sample, a production batch and daily customer orders require different quotes.

  1. Search Alibaba using the product and requirement: silicone pet grooming brush manufacturer or custom logo pet grooming brush.
  2. Open company profiles as well as product pages. Compare the product focus, stated business type and minimum order quantities. Ask which parts of production the company handles itself.
  3. Send the same specification to several candidates. Alternatively, use Alibaba’s Request for Quotation form to post a defined buying requirement and obtain supplier responses.
  4. Ask separately about samples, an initial batch, repeat batches and individual-order fulfillment. These are different services.

“Please quote [product specification] for [initial quantity] and [expected repeat quantity]. What are the sample cost, production lead time and packaging options? Can you dispatch individual customer orders, or deliver stock to our fulfillment warehouse in China?”

A manufacturer can be a good product source without being equipped to pack hundreds of separate ecommerce orders. In that case, source the product from the manufacturer and arrange fulfillment separately.

3. Search 1688 with Chinese product terms

On 1688, you are looking at China’s domestic supply market. It helps to search in Chinese and decide who will handle the purchase and the journey from the supplier to your overseas customer.

Go to 1688 and search using a concrete Chinese product name. Start with the item, then narrow by material or function. These examples help you move beyond an English search:

Product Example Chinese query
Pet grooming brush 宠物梳毛刷
Silicone pet grooming brush 硅胶宠物梳毛刷
Drawer organizer 抽屉收纳盒
Travel jewelry box 旅行首饰盒

Open matching listings and check size, material, quantity tiers and variants. Save the links and send a reference photo to the seller to confirm the match. If two sellers use the same photo, ask each for the dimensions and a current product video. Compare samples before treating them as interchangeable.

Then establish who will handle Chinese supplier communication, payment, domestic transport, inspection and international dispatch. A low listing price does not include all of those tasks.

How PICKOSHIP can help: send us the 1688 links or product photos you have found. Tell us which features must match and where you plan to sell it. We can coordinate supplier questions and samples, then quote the agreed purchasing and fulfillment work. Approve the product and cost before ordering stock.

4. Google: combine the product, supplier type and location

A broad Google search can keep bringing you back to the same supplier lists. Add the product and the service you need to find businesses you can contact directly.

Use this formula: product + supplier type + location or requirement. For example:

  • pet grooming accessories dropshipping supplier USA
  • home organization wholesaler UK dropshipping
  • travel jewelry box manufacturer China custom logo
  • China sourcing agent Shopify fulfillment

Open the company’s wholesale, dropshipping, services and contact pages. Look for a relevant product range and a clear way to make a business inquiry. If only retail pricing is visible, ask whether a wholesale or dropshipping arrangement is available.

For local delivery, ask: “Is this exact SKU physically stocked in [country], and which warehouse dispatches it?” A local company address does not establish local inventory.

Keep a simple shortlist: company, website, contact, matching product, stock location and reply status. If a website has no product match or relevant service, move on instead of collecting names.

5. Use supplier apps and directories to narrow the search

If you want orders to move from Shopify to a supplier without entering each one manually, investigate supplier apps. If you mainly need company contacts, a directory may be enough.

For Shopify, start in the Shopify App Store with searches such as dropshipping sourcing or your product category. Read what the app actually does: a catalog, order forwarding and a warehouse service are not interchangeable.

Before installing or subscribing, check whether it has the product and destination you need, which functions are included, and how product, shipping and subscription charges are billed. Ask support about the exact SKU if the catalog information is incomplete.

With a supplier directory, narrow by category and region, then contact the listed business directly. Ask whether the directory only introduces suppliers or also participates in orders and disputes. Shopify’s supplier guide explains directories and other discovery channels.

6. Turn trade shows and seller referrals into a shortlist

Exhibitor lists and introductions from other sellers give you another way to find contacts, especially when you already know your product category.

You can begin before traveling: use an exhibition’s official exhibitor directory, choose your product category and contact relevant companies. Ask for a catalog and sample options. If you attend, photograph the sample and its model number together—with permission—so you can request the same item afterward.

For referrals, ask a seller in a similar category: “Who are you currently using for this product and destination? Do they hold stock or buy after each order? Would you still recommend them after your last busy period?” A recent, specific experience is more useful than a name in a group chat.

Follow up with your own brief and sample request. Another store’s packaging, volume or route may be different from yours.

7. China sourcing partners: get help finding and buying the product

You may have found five promising listings and still be unsure which one to buy. Or you may already have a factory that will ship cartons but will not handle individual Shopify orders. These are good questions to take to a sourcing and fulfillment partner.

Search for China product sourcing and fulfillment, then check whether each company handles your category and intended workflow. Ask what its sourcing work includes, how samples are approved, what fees apply, and who handles stock and customer orders afterward.

You do not need to arrive with a finished supplier list. For PICKOSHIP, your starting point can be:

  • A product photo: tell us what matters about it—size, material, function or finish—so we can discuss possible sources and arrange sample confirmation.
  • An AliExpress, Alibaba or 1688 link: send the exact variant and expected quantity. We can review purchasing requirements and how the goods would reach our fulfillment operation.
  • An existing factory: we can discuss receiving its stock, agreed quality checks, inventory recording and individual-order dispatch.
  • Products from several suppliers: tell us which items sell together. We can assess receiving them into one inventory operation and packing the agreed bundles.

PICKOSHIP provides China sourcing and fulfillment services: supplier coordination, receiving, agreed quality checks, inventory recording, packing and dispatch. You can discuss the fulfillment process and labels, inserts and custom packaging together, with the costs and stock commitment confirmed in your plan.

Finding the product is the first step. Receiving, stock organization and picking connect it to customer orders.

For growing sellers, discuss peak-order capacity and carrier collections before increasing advertising. Payment terms may be available after account review, and shipping options can be compared for your product and destinations. Ask for the payment limit, due date and shipping quote validity in writing.

How to contact a dropshipping supplier: a message to copy

“What is your best price?” leaves too much unanswered. Copy this instead:

Hello, we are sourcing [product and exact variants] for our [Shopify store / DTC brand]. Reference link or photos: [link]. Our customers are in [countries]. We are [testing with no sales yet / currently receiving X orders per day].

We need [individual dropshipping / a stock batch delivered to a China warehouse / sourcing plus fulfillment]. Packaging: [neutral packaging / logo, inserts or other requirements].

Please confirm product availability, sample cost, minimum quantities, processing time and an itemized quote. For direct delivery, please quote shipping to [country and postcode]. Please also explain how we can place a small test order.

Send the same brief to three relevant candidates. Record missing answers and follow up once. A supplier that only replies with a product price has not yet answered your fulfillment request.

Before choosing: three short checks for reliability

  1. Confirm the business and the offer. Match the company, invoice and payment recipient; clarify any differences. Get stock location, product specification, costs and responsibilities in writing.
  2. Buy the sample. Inspect the actual variant, material, function and packaging. Keep the approved specification for repeat purchases.
  3. Test the normal order process. Use the intended warehouse and route. Record processing, carrier handoff, tracking and arrival. Ask how a wrong item or damaged parcel would be handled.

Start with limited volume. One good delivery is encouraging, but it does not prove consistency across future batches and destinations.

Frequently asked questions

How can beginners find reliable dropshipping suppliers?

If you already know the product, begin with a small shortlist from AliExpress or a relevant supplier app. If the difficulty is identifying and buying from Chinese sources, send a product brief to a sourcing partner. Choose a route that lets you inspect a sample before making a larger commitment.

How do I find a supplier using a product picture?

Write down its visible features and likely product name, search related terms, and send the photo to relevant suppliers or a sourcing partner. Confirm dimensions, materials and function before treating any listing as a match.

Can PICKOSHIP work with my existing supplier?

Yes. You can ask PICKOSHIP to receive goods from your existing supplier and handle agreed checks, storage, packing and dispatch. Share the SKU details, expected inbound quantities and packing requirements so the team can confirm the arrangement.

Does a factory need to support dropshipping?

Only if you expect it to ship individual customer orders. Otherwise, it can supply a stock batch to a fulfillment warehouse that handles those orders. Confirm the economics and inventory commitment of the combined arrangement.

Where can I compare China supplier options?

See our China dropshipping supplier comparison for different provider models. Use this guide to contact and evaluate candidates for your own product.

Tell PICKOSHIP what you want to sell, where your customers are and which part you need help with: finding supply, buying stock, branding or fulfilling orders. Include your main shipping countries and expected order volume so we can ask the right questions and prepare a relevant quote.
